To celebrate World Wildlife Day, we focussed on learning more about Chimpanzees... our closest living relative and a threatened species of the forest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We saw videos to study the similarities between chimpanzees and humans and learnt that one main difference that sets them apart from other animals is that they make and use tools. We looked at what tools they make, what natural resources they make them with and what they use the tools for. Then we went out to the forest and made some tools! We each had a challenge: taking shelter, drinking, attracting insects, cracking open a nut, collecting honey....
