17th May is Outdoor Classroom Day, we celebrated early with an excursion to our local forest!
We were very happy to be outdoors, it was a beautiful day to play scientists and detectives...
During our adventure, we certainly developed our knowledge and skills for Natural Science and Geography while we also practised mathematical calculations and consolidated our English forest vocabulary. We went on a nature trail with an observation checklist, checked for animal tracks and signs, learnt how to measure the height of trees, watched birds nests with binoculars, learnt how to use a compass and did a real-life minibeast hunt. With our magnifying glasses and magnifying pots we were able to examine the characteristics of the insects we learnt about in class... Insects are quite fascinating!
