Why are bees and butterflies important? Why are worms a farmer's best friend? Today we looked at what makes an insect an insect, classified Arthropods into Insects vs. Arachnids and found that in our collection, worms were the odd one out and belong to the Annelida phylum...
We watched some educational videos about bees and pollination, why we need worms, the differences between Arachnids and Insects and the lifecycle of butterflies.
We used our collective thinking skills for the classification activity and now we can explain some important differences between our minibeasts. The teacher gave us some great nature story books and guide books to browse through and will be leaving them in the classroom for us to read whenever we like. We love minibeasts and are really looking forward to our real-life minibeast hunt in the forest next week!
