This session was a combination of science and maths and arts and crafts too! First we made a stethescope. We learnt the names of the materials, used our cognitive skills to decide how to make it and then we were each given a role for completing the task. In groups of four (scientists, doctors, nurses and patients), we made the stethescope ready for our experiment in the forest... 'Does a tree have a heartbeat like a human?' Here is a link to the video where our teacher found out how to make a stethescope: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDYzHe85dl0
First of all we tested our stethescopes on our classmates and.... they really work!!
We learnt how to calculate a heart rate and what the normal heart rate for our age is.
We filled in the worksheet for our group and checked if there was a change in the heart rate after one minute of exercise...
